And so our journey begins…
You start out with a tiny bundle and an idea of what parenting and family life might look like.
Sometimes you spot the differences early. Sometimes other people notice them first. And sometimes, like me, you have absolutely no idea — until everything starts to fall apart.
Then the waiting begins.
Waiting for assessments. Waiting for support. Waiting for parenting courses. Schools waiting to see how things go. And sometimes hearing that infamous phrase from school:
“They seem fine here.”
When we know they're not.
But our children don't have time to wait.
We don't have time to wait.
No one was coming to the rescue. It was down to me.
I knew I had a window of opportunity to give my kids the best chance I could.
I was fortunate. My background is in training, designing, and delivering courses for businesses around the world (before I had to stop). I understood development and learning, so parenting took on a whole new focus.
While I fought for support from schools, Local Authorities, CAMHS and every other professional you can probably name, I started developing my own skills and knowledge.
